CIO Won’t Get the Pole Position on a Platter; Has to Claim It: V.S. Parthasarathy, Mahindra & Mahindra

V S Parthasarathy, Group CIO and CFO, Mahindra & Mahindra Group, is among the handful of CIOs in the country who can truly claim to be business leaders. As part of the board of one of India’s leading manufacturers, he has built IT and the CIO office into the essential pillars that drive any business strategy and decision. In an exclusive interview to Rahul Neel Mani, Editor, dynamicCIO, Parthasarathy asserts that the modern day CIO has to claim the pole position himself/herself and the board will not give it on a platter. He adds that by not rising up to the challenge and by not showing initiative and boldness to experiment, CIO should be ready to lose the digital domain to others. Pathasarathy leads by example as he gives insights into how digital is helping Mahindra & Mahindra drive customer delight, which he claims is fundamental to how organisations have to be in future.
